I am using an older version of BrowserHawk and it is not detecting Flash properly. In some cases it returns the wrong version number, or says it is not installed when it is. Do I need an update to the software?

Yes. BrowserHawk v11.04 is required to detect Flash 10.x.
BrowserHawk v10.0 thru v11.03 only detects Flash up to v9.x. BrowserHawk v9.0 only detects Flash up to version 8.0. BrowserHawk v7.x and v8.x only detects Flash up to Flash 7, BrowserHawk 6.x only detects up to Flash 6, BrowserHawk 5.x only detects up to Flash 5, and BrowserHawk 4.x only detects up to Flash 4. This is because the newer versions of Flash were not available at the time these older versions of BrowserHawk were developed.
Note that plugin detection is controlled by the component itself, not in the BDF file, so updating your BDF will have no effect.
To resolve the issue upgrade your machines to the latest version of BrowserHawk.
