We have a busy web server that at times handles several thousand requests per second. How fast is CountryHawk, and can it handle this load?

Absolutely. CountryHawk is specifically built for enterprise-level scalability, and can easily handle *any* web server load that you throw at it without a hiccup or even being noticed.
For example, even on a modest development machine such as a P4 1.2Ghz w/256 MB memory, we wrote a test VB application that was able to process over 200,000 lookups per second.
Of course you couldn't get this same overall performance level from a web page, because the web server itself cannot generally process loads that fast, even for basic web pages without any components being used.
In summary, CountryHawk will not in any way impact the transaction load that your web server can handle. Whatever load your server can process without CountryHawk installed is the same load you can handle with CountryHawk installed.
This means you can use CountryHawk on as many pages on your site as you wish, under any load that your web server can handle normally, without any performance penalty. We encourage you to stress test it on your own to verify our findings.
