BrowserHawk does not seem to recognize browser xxx?
Created: 1/17/2001    Updated: 9/28/2004
Q   I recently ran into a situation where BrowserHawk did not detect a particular browser. Why is this and what do I need to do?

A   BrowserHawk properly and accurately detects *all* versions of IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Firefox, Safari, and Opera, as well as thousands of versions and variations of different browsers and devices such as DoCoMo i-Mode, WebTV, AOL, PDAs, and WAP devices.

If BrowserHawk did not properly detect a browser the reason is most likely that you are not using our latest Browser Definition File (BDF).

To check if you are using the latest BDF file open your BrowserHawk Editor and choose "Download latest BDF from cyScape" from the Special menu. Note that your Support and Maintenance must be current to use this option.

If this does not solve the issue for you, please send us a detailed message to support@cyscape.com and enclose information on what the device is (type and version, etc) and what the device reports as its user agent string. You can get the user agent string by hitting http://www.cyscape.com/useragent.asp with the device in question.
