Unable to Update error message on Windows 2012
Created: 8/7/2014    Updated: 8/7/2014
Q   When trying to download the latest browser definition, I receive an error dialog titled Unable to Update. The message inside says Details: Access to the path BrowserHawk\cyscape.zip is denied. However there is no cyscape.zip in that folder.

A   The issue is caused due to insufficient permissions on the BrowserHawk folder and its subfolders. The cyscape.zip file may not exist - the issue is that the updater is trying to save the new update to that file name, but it lacks permissions.

To resolve the issue, go to Advanced Security Settings for the BrowserHawk folder and select the Permissions tab. Change ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES to full, or otherwise so that there are write permissions, and have this apply to this folder, subfolders and files. Then try to update the browser definitions again.
